Why You Should Attend Wrestling Camp This Summer
Are you a wrestler looking for a way to take your game on the mat to the next level? Well, you’re in luck! We’re happy to be offering Pioneer Wrestling Camp at Sacred Heart University this summer.
This is a part of U.S. Wrestling Camps, which were developed by top college coaches in the sport to not only provide superior technical training, but to do it in a competitive and positive atmosphere. The Pioneer Wrestling Camp in particular was created to provide a total wrestling experience for all participants while also offering opportunities to develop as an individual.
Andy Lausier, head wrestling coach at Sacred Heart, will be directing the program and brings a sparkling resume to the table. He’s transformed SHU’s Division-I program, but also was a standout performer himself at Lycoming College. Lausier posted a collegiate record of 121-29, was named an All-American and qualified for the NCAA Tournament three times.
His assistant coach at SHU, Derek Moore, will also join him to provide superior instruction. Like Lausier, Moore’s experience in the sport is tough to match. He’s trained with multiple Olympic champions, has won a Division-I NCAA Championship and competed in the 2012 U.S. Olympic team trials.
The camp will be held on campus at Sacred Heart from July 5 through July 8, with a typical daily schedule running from 8:45am to 3pm. The focus will be on individual training, technique sessions and dual meet competition.
Our goal is to put campers in the best possible position to get better, which is why the individual nature of the camp is so important. Upon arriving, campers will initially be grouped according to things such as ability, experience and age (depending on how many campers we have!).
Maintaining a low camper-to-staff ratio allows the opportunity to get the most individual attention as possible. This includes offering things such as small-group instruction, video analysis, leadership training and race strategy.
Wrestling is a sport that takes a lot of self-discipline and dedication. With coaches like Lausier and Moore leading the way, there aren’t two better people out there to help campers take their skill to the next level. Our proven instructional curriculum gives campers the ability to improve and achieve those things, both on and off the mat.
U.S. Wrestling camps will always remain committed to helping wrestlers of all skill levels improve. One of the best feelings in the world is finding that one adjustment you need to take your level of play to the next level. The mission of Pioneer Wrestling Camps is to help players connect with their peers, have fun while training hard and unlocking their full potential. It’s definitely an experience you won’t want to miss!
